On Saturday we headed down to Miami. We must be getting spoiled to have left Palm Beach's crystal-clear water so quickly; we just knew that Miami would be even better, though. Our first stop on the way down was Hollywood, Florida, a happy accident. We detoured here thanks to run-around directions from Siri and happily ended up in the most culturally-diverse, music-friendly little neighborhood. The main city street had Middle Eastern food next to French next to Thai next to Cuban next to Italian next to Eurocafe next to Irish pub. Anyone who knows me and Jon knows that this made us supremely happy. So much so that Jon decided to play here for the night instead of continuing down to the beach.
On Sunday morning we visited the most beautiful church, Christ Fellowship. For lunch we decided on Indonesian (
so many international food choices!)
Afterwards we took our weekly Sunday rest from roughing it and checked into a hotel on the beach. Everything here is so bright and lush. It feels much more exotic than we'd expected any American city to (the jumble of languages all around adds to that feel, too.) We have this entire week in Miami, so we're really looking forward to digging in and exploring as much as we can.
